Top 3 Books to Read in 2015

This isn't Allen, but you should still take his suggestions about the top 3 books to read in 2015.

We all struggle to find balance in life. Often it feels impossible, but it isn’t. Maybe the answer lies in making things simple, not constantly making them more complex. I picked these top 3 books to read in 2015 for this exact reason – they’ve helped me find balance and I truly believe have made me a better and happier person and leader.

Work

Why Managing Sucks and How to Fix It: A Results-Only Guide to Taking Control of Work, Not People

The world has changed. Not is changing. Work cultures are rapidly evolving and for the better. The best organizations and the most talented people will adopt a Results Only Work Environment culture (ROWE) and it will be a life-changing event for the company and the individuals. ROWE concepts blend perfectly with the simple concept of “Do what you say, and work as a team,” which is one of WhatCounts core values. Imagine life when we spend our lives being treated as adults and being a part of a team who works together and does what they say.

Personal

Essentialism : The Disciplined Pursuit of Less

I absolutely love this book. It’s not a minimalist point of view saying you should remove everything. It’s actually a theory of removing just those things that don’t really matter – or fulfill – you. It’s about doing more of what you love and less of what you don’t. So much of our lives are spent doing things we truly don’t enjoy, love, or even want to do.

Health

ChiWalking: Fitness Walking for Lifelong Health and Energy

Walking is our body’s signal saying, “Hey, you are still alive.” Walking is the magic that no one takes advantage of. Everyone is running around dieting, cross fitting, etc. What if everyone just walked an hour a day? It will change your life. It’s a spiritual, stress-removing, chemistry-changing solution to lots of problems. My advice: Go for a walk.

What books are you planning to read this year that offer an original perspective about work, your personal life, or health?
