Emojis In Email Subject Lines: Can Your Subscribers See Them?

Recently, our friends over at Litmus put together some great numbers about emojis in subject lines. There’s a lot of good stuff going on in their post, and it’s just a further reminder that you absolutely need to be testing and you need to be studying your subscriber data. You can read the post here, but we wanted to just touch on a few things really quick that we especially found interesting:

  • Emoji usage in email marketing has gone up 7,100% over the last year.
  • Emojis will look very different depending on how old the OS is that your subscribers are using, and you even run the risk of emojis looking like this: ☐.
  • A majority of subscribers use Windows 7, which has difficulty displaying emojis.
  • Gmail always displays emojis.

Again, we highly recommend you read the rest of article, which features great details and also best practices when it comes to using emojis in your email marketing.
