The Olympic Games are in full swing, and while we’re a little sad the trampoline portion hasn’t happened yet, we are getting excited for some Olympic-themed emails.
And we’re going to share a couple with you now (plus one that kind of bummed us out).
When we see a subject line like this …
… we get pretty jazzed, because there aren’t a whole lot of things as awesome as the U.S. Olympic team. When we clicked through, however, there was no payoff really. We’ll avoid naming names, but folks who sent the message failed to follow up in any way whatsoever on the Olympic theme. Once you clicked through, it was all business. And that broke our patriotic hearts.
Still, we’ll give them some credit: Their subject line was timely and compelling enough to warrant an open.
Fitness retailer No Bull got in on the Olympic theme from the outset. The day of the opening ceremonies they were quick to send out a message advertising the most patriotic product in their inventory.
We love it. The message is on theme, the CTAs are clear, and the shoes themselves are pretty [insert fire emoji here].
The number one spot goes to an email that was so topical and timely, we almost couldn’t believe it. When Michael Phelps won his 19th medal — making history in the process — recovery drink company Kill Cliff was quick to promote a sale. But not just any sale …
The message is funny and on theme, and the email itself was sent after Phelps won the medal. That’s email marketing that hit all the sweet spots right out of the park.
We help great companies, large and small, crush their email marketing goals.
